Professor Emerita Receives Community Service Award at Fall Picnic

The Emeritus College has had a great start to the fall with our Fall Picnic and Annual Business meeting. A great time was had by over 200 emeritus faculty and guests at Palmetto’s Event Center in Pendleton. The event not only offered great food and

fellowship but also recognized Dr. Linda Gahan, Associate Professor Emerita of Biological Sciences, as the recipient of the Emeritus Award for Community Service.  This award was established by the Emeritus College Advisory Board to recognize emeritus faculty members who provide extraordinary service to the community or their professions outside the university and Emeritus College. Dr. Hoke Hill, Professor Emeritus of Mathematical Sciences, also was recognized for his service to the College as Chair of the Advisory Board for 2018-19. Dr. Don McKale, Chair 2019-20, presented Dr. Hill with a commemorative clock as well as thanked all members of the College that volunteer their time as Board Members, Committee Chairs, Committee Members and those who have donated to the College over the past year!
