11.18.13- Lennard J. Davis “Depression as a Disability”


Lennard J. Davis, one of the foremost voices in Disability Studies, will be visiting Clemson on Tuesday, 19 November. Davis’s work on “biocultures” incorporates thinking about disability into a larger project of bringing together the biological and the cultural. His “Biocultures Manifesto” was published in New Literary History┬áin 2007, and at the University of Illinois at Chicago, his “Project Biocultures” ( aims to provide a platform for bringing scientific and humanistic inquiry together.

At 4 p.m. on 19 November, Professor Davis will deliver the public lecture, “Depression as a Disability: A Biocultural Approach,” in the Class of ’41 Studio.

There will be ASL interpreters and on-site captioning provided.
