11.18.13- Lennard J. Davis “Depression as a Disability”
Lennard J. Davis, one of the foremost voices in Disability Studies, will be visiting Clemson on Tuesday, 19 November. Davis’s work on “biocultures” incorporates thinking about disability into a larger project of bringing together the biological and the cultural. His “Biocultures Manifesto” was published in New Literary History in 2007, and at the University of Illinois at Chicago, his “Project Biocultures” (http://www.lennarddavis.com/biocultures.html) aims to provide a platform for bringing scientific and humanistic inquiry together.
At 4 p.m. on 19 November, Professor Davis will deliver the public lecture, “Depression as a Disability: A Biocultural Approach,” in the Class of ’41 Studio.
There will be ASL interpreters and on-site captioning provided.
