A healthier you: Join the Great American Smokeout

Join smokers from across the nation on Thursday, Nov. 19, to quit smoking during the annual Great American Smokeout. The timely tools and resources offered during this annual smoking-cessation campaign complement the many resources available year-round to Clemson’s current tobacco users who will be working in a tobacco-free environment as of Jan. 1, 2016.

Other Clemson smoking-cessation support programs are listed below:

·         Deer Oaks employee assistance program (EAP) is an outside resource that offers wellness coaching on line or by telephone. Deer Oaks’ certified wellness coaches are trained by the Mayo Clinic and are available to help you identify and maintain strategies that support your goal of tobacco cessation and other health-related goals. To inquire, call toll-free to 866-327-2400.

·         The Joseph F. Sullivan Center is a nurse-managed clinic located on Clemson’s campus (101 Edwards Hall) that offers tobacco-cessation programs for employees and retirees. LivingFree, the center’s 12-week, online program, is designed to assist people in the battle to quit smoking. Also, employees and retirees whose primary insurance coverage is through Clemson University have access to prescriptions for nicotine replacement therapies and can participate in CU4Health, Clemson’s employee wellness program.

·         CU Quit at Redfern Health Center provides free and confidential tobacco-cessation counseling to undergraduate and graduate students who wish to quit smoking.
