April 22 and 23 Triathlon: Clemson road closures and impacts

USA Triathlon’s Collegiate Club National Championship will once again take place in Clemson April 22 – 23. Top collegiate triathletes from across the United States will compete for their chance of being named a national champion. A handful of these athletes are in the developmental pipeline to become future Olympians competing for the USA at the Olympic Games in 2020 and beyond.

Areas impacted

The main venue will be at Campus Beach with the run route taking place on Hwy 93, Beach Drive, and Track Drive and the bike route taking place on Hwy 93, Perimeter Road, and into the protected forest. The swim will take place in Lake Hartwell – beginning and ending at Campus Beach.

Sports/area impacts:

Friday, April 22 (9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.) – Draft-legal and high school races
Draft-legal and high school racing are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with men and women competing for their respective championship in both the draft-legal and high school races. Hwy. 93 from Perimeter Road to Seneca Creek Road will close at 9 a.m. and will re-open at 4:30 p.m.

Swim
The swim course will take place in Lake Hartwell. It will begin and end at Campus Beach.

Bike Course / Run Course
Due to this exciting event, there will be full and partial road closures which may require detours and delays. Please drive with caution. For those residents on Cherry Road, there will be limited access at some intersections.

*   Hwy. 93 from Seneca Creek Road to Perimeter Road (full closure – note that cars will only be permitted to turn right on Hwy. 93 from Perimeter Road, cars will only be permitted to turn left on Perimeter Road from Hwy 93, cars exiting Hwy 123 will only be permitted to turn right on Seneca Creek Road, and cars coming from Seneca Creek Road toward Hwy 93 will only be permitted to turn left toward Hwy 123)
