A well-respected educator and experienced leader with a reputation as an effective collaborator, consensus builder and an institutional success advocate will lead efforts to track Clemson University’s institutional efficacy and academic progress.

Clemson University Provost Robert H. Jones announced that interim associate provost Jeremy King, Ph.D. has been named associate provost for institutional effectiveness. In this role, King will oversee university assessment and institutional research at all organizational levels, measure progress on strategic plans, develop policy, and meet the needs of the university’s accreditation process. Additionally, he will develop new models for institutional data collection and set standards for assessment.

“The road to success comes through strategic decision making and the ability for an institution to assess itself through every step of the process,” said Jones. “Jeremy has played an important part in the creation and implementation of the ClemsonForward strategic plan and his expertise is crucial in the university’s success.”

King joined Clemson in 2003 as an associate professor in the physics and astronomy department. He led the faculty senate as president in the 2012-13 term and achieved the rank of professor in 2013. He was named a Presidential Faculty Fellow in 2014 and has served as interim associate provost since 2015.

“I am excited to work with the professionals in the Offices of Institutional Research and Assessment in serving our 30,000 Clemson decision makers as well as myriad partners and stakeholders outside the university,” said King. “Together, we are excited to have new and enhanced opportunities to provide all our constituents with institutional intelligence and insight to advance the university mission under the ClemsonForward strategic plan, and to ensure we do so with the transparency and accountability that the citizens of South Carolina expect and deserve.”

King’s new role is effective immediately.
