The Barker Scholars Endowment for Unrestricted Scholarships will provide university-wide, need-based scholarships to deserving students. This unique endowment will be funded by gifts large and small. It is a uniting gesture of gratitude — a way for all of us to join together as the Clemson Family and say “Thank you!”

For 14 years, Jim Barker has served as Clemson University’s president and an ardent cheerleader. Now, as he prepares to step down from the presidency, faculty, staff and students are invited to continue the momentum and show the gratitude of the Clemson Family with their support of the Barker Scholars Endowment for Unrestricted Scholarships. Barker knows firsthand that a scholarship can make a big difference. When he entered Clemson University with the goal of becoming an architect, he was the first in his family to attend college.

Don’t have a smartphone? Donations to the Barker Scholars endowment may be made online or by check. Checks should be made payable to the Clemson Fund and mailed to Clemson Fund, P.O. Box 1889, Clemson, SC 29633. Indicate that the check is for the Barker Scholars fund.

The amount raised for the endowment by Aug. 26 will be announced publicly Aug. 31 during the Clemson-Georgia football game at Memorial Stadium. Gifts will be accepted after the announcement, but people are encouraged to make a gift now to show support and be part of the public announcement.

The Barker Scholars endowment is part of The Will to Lead campaign, a $1 billion capital campaign to support Clemson students and faculty with scholarships, professorships, facilities, technology and enhanced opportunities for learning and research.
