CCIT: New email security tool begins Aug. 24

phishing-inside-clemsonIn recent weeks, we have seen an increase in the number of phishing emails sent to university email accounts. These emails include links that attempt to trick you into providing your account and password which can lead to unauthorized access to university resources, but can also lead to you personally becoming a victim of identity theft or fraud.

On Wednesday, August 24, CCIT will employ a new tool to fight phishing at Clemson.  This new tool will scan links in all external email messages being sent to your main Clemson email address and will alert you to known phishing websites.  While this new system should stop many phishing attempts, please continue to be diligent in verifying that the email is from a known sender and that the email content is genuine and relevant.
