Clemson Service Alliance seeking nominations for service-learning award

The Clemson Service Alliance is requesting nominations for the South Carolina Commission on Higher Education Service-Learning Award for 2014.  All nominations received will be reviewed and evaluated by a committee of faculty, staff and students involved in service-learning at Clemson, and one project will be selected to be Clemson’s representative/nominee for the 2014 award.  Former winners of this award are not eligible for nomination.

Nominations can be completed online or submitted by email to Kathy Woodard with the following form http://www.clemson.edu/public/servicealliance/faculty/che_nomination_form_2014.pdf by noon on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014. Please note that there is a three-page maximum on the narrative provided.

For the purposes of the competition, service-learning is defined college student learning at any level and in any situation that is linked in a direct, hands-on fashion to the resolution of a problem or concern in a target community outside the institution.

Projects may be linked to academic credit and may also be collaborative ventures between colleges and universities.  However, all projects must be related to a college course, with some type of reflection on the activity performed or feedback discussion.
