Clemson University police have arrested a person who posted three intimidating and harassing comments on the anonymous social media app Yik Yak. The comments were related to a protest by members of the campus community outside of Sikes Hall.
Police charged the person with SC Code of Laws 16-17-0430 “Unlawful Communication”
Social media sites will work with law enforcement agencies that are investigating intimidating or harassing postings. The investigations may lead to criminal charges.
Offenses by students will be referred to the Office of Community and Ethical Standards for possible disciplinary action.
