Bryan E. Denham, Ph.D., department chair of the university’s department of communication and Leslie Conrad, director of Clemson’s Outdoor Lab were named Professor of the Game and Star Staffer of the Game respectively during the Sept. 10 Troy v. Clemson home football game.
The honor is popular with faculty and staff.
“I enjoyed the opportunity to spend time in the President’s box and also appear on the field,” said Denham. “I’ve held an endowed professorship at Clemson for 17 years and it was nice to meet with people who make such opportunities available for faculty. In my case, the late Robert Brooks established the Campbell Professorship in Sports Communication, and I am grateful for the opportunity he provided. I thank President Clements, Provost Jones and others at Clemson for the Professor of the Game experience.”
“Being chosen as Staffer of the Game was an honor,” explained Conrad. “I am grateful for the opportunity to represent the Outdoor Lab and the many people who make our programs possible.”
The practice of honoring faculty and staff during Clemson football home games began last season. Those recognized sit with Jim Clements in the president’s box during the game and are honored in a ceremony during the event.
