Faculty, staff and student veterans to be honored at appreciation brunch

By Alex Foster, Staff Senate

Veterans are a very special part of Clemson. To celebrate them and honor the university’s military heritage, Clemson will host its third annual Veterans Appreciation Brunch from 9 until 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 in the Burton Gallery at Littlejohn Coliseum. All faculty, staff and student veterans are encouraged to attend. At the event, veterans will receive a one-of-a-kind Clemson/military-themed lapel pin.

This is the third year that Clemson’s Staff Senate is spearheading the brunch. According to Staff Senate President Dan Hofmann, the event keeps getting bigger and better each year thanks to a collaborative effort with campus partners.

“With the help of President Jim Clements’ office, the Office of Human Resources, Faculty Senate, the Office of Inclusion and Equity, the Clemson Student Veteran Center and corporate sponsor Lockheed Martin, this year’s event will be the largest event yet to honor our veterans,” he said.

As guest speakers share their stories of service, veterans are encouraged to talk about their service and receive news specifically geared toward them. To sign up for veteran-specific notifications, click here.

In recognition of service

In support of this year’s Veterans Appreciation Brunch, Parking and Transportation Services is offering faculty, staff and student veterans the chance to win free on-campus parking for the remainder of the 2018-2019 academic year. Three winners will be selected from a drawing; those who have already purchased a parking pass will be reimbursed for the full cost of the pass, and those who do not have a parking pass will receive a pass free of charge.

Faculty, staff and student veterans who sign up to receive veteran-specific notifications will automatically be entered into the drawing. There will also be an opportunity to enter the drawing at the Veteran’s Appreciation Brunch on Nov. 13. Three winners will be selected and notified in the week following the event.
