First Friday parade canceled due to inclement weather

University officials have closely monitored the weather forecast for this afternoon’s First Friday Parade. With a severe threat of rain and lightning during the parade lineup process between 4 and 6 p.m., the decision has been made to cancel today’s festivities.

Organizers said the safety of both participants and spectators is the university’s number-one priority in making the decision. They said the parade will not be rescheduled for this year.
