Clemson University, a former military college, will honor its military heritage by hosting a Green Zone training session on Friday, April 18 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Student Chambers of the Edgar A. Brown University Union.
Designed to support and empower student veterans, Green Zone training educates participants about the challenges faced by all veterans transitioning from the military to civilian life. Faculty, staff and students at the training session will learn about the difficult transition process and about resources available for student veterans.
After completing the Green Zone training, participants will receive an informational packet and a Green Zone sticker, which will allow student veterans to identify individuals who can help them successfully transition into life as a Clemson student.
Nicholas Paschvoss, assistant director of career development, and Ben Curtis, president of the Clemson Student Veterans Association, will lead the training.
“This training is small piece of how Clemson University will achieve short-term and long-term goals, such as the 2020 road map,” said Paschvoss. “As higher education practitioners, we need to have a better understanding of underrepresented student populations to increase awareness and diversity to education.”
