Learn about your students through Faculty Friends program

How well do you really know your students? Here’s your chance to learn more about your students beyond the confines of a classroom. There are a few spots left for faculty to participate in the University Housing and Dining department’s Faculty Friends program.

The successful program enables faculty to engage with first-year residents through intentional interactions that invite self-exploration and encourage understanding of what it means to live in a community. “It’s a benefit for faculty to get to know their students independent of grading, assignments and deadlines,” said Suzanne Price, director of residential learning. “A lot of faculty enjoy and appreciate the experience.”

With the support of residential life staff (resident assistants, graduate and full-time staff), faculty are invited into the residence hall to engage with students and facilitate experiences that meet the unique needs of individual student populations.

And the experience comes with support. Participating faculty will receive an employee meal plan and a programming budget to facilitate meaningful engagement experiences with residents. Learn more about the program and complete the brief program application, click here.
