Clemson University’s executive leadership team has approved parking permit increases for the 2017-18 academic year, affecting faculty, staff and students. The increases will help fund several capital projects and create over 700 new parking spaces on campus, including over 400 spaces in one of two park-n-ride commuter lots.

Permit renewals and sales will be available soon on the Parking & Transportation Services home page.

“While we recognize the need for more parking spaces on campus in order to meet demand, we are systematically working to reduce that number through various transportation demand management strategies and initiatives such as our recently awarded Commuter Choice program,” said Dan Hofmann, director of Parking & Transportation Services. “We are pleased to announce an alternative, discounted rate for our park-n-ride program, which will help to reduce parking and traffic congestion on campus.”

Under the new park-n-ride option, a $24 annual permit rate will be offered at two remote locations — lot R-06 at the intersection of Highway 76 and 93, and the new Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Center (Lot P-02, formerly the YMCA) of off Highway 93. Tiger Transit will run buses every 15 minutes daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. from both locations. The discounted permit will be valid for park-n-ride lots Monday through Thursday, and you will be able to park on campus after 4:30 p.m. On Fridays, those who have the park-n-ride permits will be able to park on campus according to your classification (student or employee) rather than the remote lots.

Employees with annual salaries at $50,000 or less will not see an increase in 2017-18, Hofmann announced. The salary tier system will see 10 percent increases for employees with annual salaries beginning over $50,000, and incrementally up to $200,000, with increases ranging from $0.54 to $2.08 per pay period. Those who earn more than $200,000 annually will see the highest increase (+ $8.33 per pay period).
