Parking/Transit: Motorcycle, moped, & motor scooters must have a permit; CAT bus stop relocated; parking lot closures

Motorcycle, moped, and motor scooter permit policy
If you have a motorcycle, moped, or motor scooter parked on campus or plan to drive one to campus,  heed the below information to avoid the expense and frustration of motorcycle or moped being ticketed or towed.

To legally park on Clemson University’s campus, all motorcycles and mopeds must obtain a parking permit. Motorcycle/moped permits are $24 per year and are valid until August 15, 2014.
The Motorcycle, Moped, Motor Scooter permit is valid for parking in the following areas (except when reserved for special events):

  • Motorcycle parking space (“Motorcycle Parking” sign or “MC” pavement marking)
  • Motorcycles, mopeds and motor scooters are prohibited from parking in automobile parking spaces

Note: Vehicles with internal combustion engines may not be stored in campus buildings or under porches, overhangs or patios adjacent to campus buildings.

All motorcycles, mopeds, and motor scooters must be parked in a motorcycle parking space. Those motorcycles double parked or not in a valid space are subject to ticketing. If a motorcycle space is not available in your first desired location, please identify secondary locations to find parking to avoid a ticket.

There are motorcycle spaces available in parking lots which have easy access to the CAT bus, including the:

  • C-1 parking lot (located on aisle 6);
  • C-9 parking lot (located across from Littlejohn); and
  • P-3 parking lot (located off of the entrance off of Perimeter Road).

Additional locations, not accessible by CAT bus, that have available motorcycle parking include  the:

  • E-3 parking lot (located behind Lee Hall); and
  • E-2 parking lot (located Lehotsky Hall across from the Brooks Center)

Any motorcycle, moped, or motor scooter not displaying a permit or other form of identification will be subject to tow.

For more information about motorcycle, moped, and motor scooter regulations, visit the Parking and Transportation Services website at www.clemson.edu/parking or call 656-2270.

Cherry Road: Red Route CAT bus stop relocated
To improve the safety of passengers, drivers, and CAT buses, the Red Route bus stop located on Cherry Road going towards to Central (on the same side as Hendrix Student Center) has been relocated to the intersection of Cherry Road and Bryan Circle, just a few feet from where it was. This move also coincides with extensive tree work that is being conducted at the site of the old bus stop which makes that location unusable. When the tree work is concluded, the bus stop will remain at its new location at the intersection.

(Students): Parking lot closures due to career fair  Sept. 18 and 19
The Michelin Career Center Career Fair will be held in Littlejohn Coliseum this Wednesday and Thursday. As a result, Ravenel Road will be closed to commuter parking. Commuters looking for parking are urged to park in the P-3 parking lot located behind Memorial Stadium and P-4 parking lot located next to Jervey Gym. Those attending the career fair are urged to take the Orange CAT bus route instead of driving as there will be increased activity in this area.

Due to the closure of Ravenel Road, the Orange CAT bus route will be rerouted to avoid this road. The bus will travel from Perimeter Road, turn right onto S.C .Highway 93 and then turn right again on Centennial Boulevard to get back on route. Please note that with increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic in this area, there may be slight delays.
