The Joseph F. Sullivan Center is now offering a diabetes self-management course called CU In Control. The course will cover topics relevant to diabetes care including medications, monitoring, being active, reducing risks, healthy eating, and problem solving including how take care of yourself and your diabetes when you are sick.
Open to all Clemson employees, the course will be a series of four classes on Tuesday evenings from 5-6 p.m. at the center, located at 101 Edwards Hall.
“We encourage people to enroll in the course to find out how to live longer and healthier, reduce their healthcare costs, and take control of their health,” says the Sullivan Center’s Jenny Leonard, who is leading the course. “Armed with knowledge, support and a personalized action plan, patients can prevent many diabetes-related complications and live healthier lives.”
With more than 25 million Americans diagnosed with diabetes and many more are at risk, “diabetes can be a very serious, costly, debilitating problem, but it doesn’t have to be,” Leonard added.

Housed on the first floor of Edwards Hall, the Joseph F. Sullivan Center is a nurse-managed health center that provides health services to Clemson employees, and community outreach programs to local, underserved communities and individuals. The center provides opportunities for Clemson students studying nursing, public health, recreation therapy, and other disciplines to practice in supervised, state-of-the-art settings. The center is part of the College of Health, Education and Human Development.
