USDA transitions to new electronic grants system, reps on campus May 12

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is transitioning to a new electronic grants management system – ezFedGrants – on Oct. 1, 2016.  This transition will impact all aspects of USDA grant activity:  searching for grant opportunities, application submission, research compliance, post-award operations and progress report submission.  If you interact (or plan to interact) with USDA on or after Oct. 1, 2016, it is imperative that you begin now to receive the necessary authorizations.

Access to ezFed Grants is a multi-step process:  the first five steps are completed online here: https://www.eauth.usda.gov/MainPages/index.aspx.

The final step requires in-person authorization by a USDA Service Center. For the convenience of Clemson University faculty and staff, the Anderson County USDA Service Center will be on campus from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2016 in Barre Hall, Room B105. Registrants must bring their login ID and a current government issued photo (state driver’s license or U.S. Passport).

For those faculty and staff who are located off campus or are unable to visit campus on May 12, the in-person authorization can be done at any USDA Service Center.  A list of local offices is available here:  http://offices.sc.egov.usda.gov/.  The agency recommends calling in advance for an appointment.  Instructions on completing the registration/authorization process are available on the OSP website.
