Ben Kissam, Professor Emeritus of Entomology – Nov. 24, 2019

Ben Kissam, 84, Clemson University Professor Emeritus of Entomology, died on Nov. 24, 2019, at Clemson Downs.

Kissam retired from Clemson in 1991 after 25 years of service. He was a graduate of Clemson, where he played football in 1953-57. He also earned his master’s degree and Ph.D. in entomology from Clemson. He was a retired U.S. Army colonel and was commander of the Clemson and Anderson units of the S.C. Army National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Alyce Lee Kissam Pastor of Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren, Lauren Kalie Pastor and Joshua Tredwell Pastor; and great-grand daughter, Harper Elizabeth Pastor.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home in Central. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.

A graveside committal service with full military honors will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at M. J. “Dolly” Cooper Veteran’s Cemetery in Anderson.
