John “Jack” Olker, staff – May 7, 2017

John “Jack” Olker of Central died May 7, 2017. Olker was a parking enforcement officer with Parking and Transportation Services with almost 17 years of service.

“We are stunned to hear of Jack’s untimely passing,” said Dan Hofmann, director of Parking and Transportation Services. “Jack’s many years of service and work ethic helped to set the standard for how the job of parking enforcement should be done. In the face of the difficult job he performed, he always had a joke or friendly words to share that helped to brighten your day. He will be sorely missed.”

Olker is survived by his wife, Cathy, children Robert and Beth, family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. May 27 at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, Clemson. A reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the SC Jaycee Foundation for the Cecile Dyck Camp Hope Scholarship Fund. Mail your checks to: Jaycee Foundation, c/o Rodney Stone, 323 Gentry Run, Greenwood, SC 29649.
