Dr. Mica Grujicic, 64, died Oct. 21, 2016.

Grujicic was a member of Clemson’s faculty for 28 years. He was the Wilfred P. and Helen S. Tiencken Professor of Mechanical Engineering.

Richard Figliola, chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, remembered Grujicic as a well-liked and highly respected member of the department.

“He will be best remembered for a sense of humor and his constant willingness to contribute to the department in any way,” Figliola said. “He was a strong researcher, leading the department in external funding year after year.”

Grujicic is survived by his wife and daughter, who both live in the Clemson area.

Grujicic received the McQueen Quattlebaum Research Award in 2007. The award recognized outstanding accomplishments in engineering research within the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences.

Anand Gramopadhye, dean of the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences, said that Dr. Grujicic was an exemplary researcher and scholar.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones,” Gramopadhye said.

The memorial service will be private.
