William Henry Davis McGregor died on July 26, 2014. He was a professor emeritus of forestry, head of the department of forestry and dean of the College of Forestry and Recreational Resources.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church in Clemson with the Rev. Laura Conrad and the Rev. Julie Schaff officiating.
Davis was born in Florence and served in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve in 1945-50. He married Mary Monica Jackson in 1950 and received his bachelor’s degree from Clemson in 1951, master’s degree from the University of Michigan in 1953 and doctorate from Duke University in 1958. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a tree physiologist before joining the Clemson faculty.
