Dr. Brandon Turner wins the Review of Politics Award for the best paper in normative politics

April 9, 2013

Congratulations to Dr. Brandon Turner for winning the Review of Politics Award for the best paper in normative politics for his paper entitled, “Privates Vices, Public Benefits: Mandragola and Antagonism in Machiavelli’s Political Thought.”  The citation by the awards committee is pasted below.  Great job Brandon!

“The committee admired the way that the paper persuasively argued for a genuinely novel reading of an old, familiar, and important text, and in so doing reflected new light back on to Machiavelli’s overall political thought.  Moreover, the paper managed such exegesis in a way that highlighted Machiavelli’s continuing relevance for vital problems of political life even in our own day.  Congratulations on a fine piece of work.”
