Screen Shot 2017-09-29 at 12.00.29 PMVirginia Smith discussed her forthcoming book, A Scientific Companion to Robert Frost, at the Stone House Museum in Shaftsbury, Vermont. Smith’s lecture detailed how “Frost incorporated science in explicit ways in his poetry, such as direct references to objects or discoveries and in subtle ways, such as metaphors based on scientific concepts. Her discussion will address both his earlier work characterized by a simple, straightforward appreciation for science as natural history as well as his later poems that reflect a complex, conflicted relationship with concepts that challenged his perception of the world around him.” Read the full story in the Brattleboro Reformer.
