On September 13, 2014, the Clemson Ranger Club hosted the Second Annual CPT Piazza Memorial 5K Run in the South Carolina Botanical Gardens. The run, named in honor of World War II veteran CPT Philip B. Piazza, was held in order to raise money for scholarships for student-veterans as well as the Clemson Ranger Club training fund. Just over two hundred runners registered for the event, with about one hundred and fifty in attendance on September 13. The Ranger Club plans to hold the event, for the third year in a row, next fall.
