On October 2nd, the Fightin’ Tiger Battalion conducted land navigation training. Sophomores began training for Land Navigation by moving through three teaching stations in 10-minute round robin intervals. After all of the rotations ended, the Sophomore class was given lane cards. The students were expected to plot points, plan routes, and prepare to walk the land navigation course. After the cadets plotted their points and got them checked, the Cadets headed out to their initial starting point. From that time, the Sophomores were released in groups for land navigation training. After points were found or time was called, Cadets got their overall land navigation score. During this time, the Freshmen went to Bowman Field and from 1530-1630, Seniors class instructors lead training of basic land navigation skills: including compass basics, orienting a map, terrain association and learning their pace counts.
