Clemson Men's Soccer team defeats Providence

B-Note December 5, 2019

December 5, 2019

Greetings fellow Tigers!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with loved ones. Following the holiday in which we expressed our many blessings and fortunes, Clemson had much to celebrate on the field. On Saturday, our football team traveled to Columbia to face our in-state rivals, the South Carolina Gamecocks. The Tigers dominated the field and advanced to six consecutive wins against our rivals with a 38 – 3 victory.

On Sunday, our men’s soccer team faced Providence. Junior Robbie Robinson netted a penalty kick in the 105th minute to send 2nd-seeded Clemson past Providence, 2-1, in the NCAA Men’s Soccer Round of 16. The Tigers will host the quarterfinal match against Stanford on Friday at 6 p.m. at Historic Riggs Field. I hope many of you will be there to cheer for our Tigers!

This Saturday our football team, the Atlantic Division champions, will face the Coastal Division champion Virginia Cavaliers in the 2019 ACC Championship Game. Kickoff from Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. With a win, Clemson can become the first team in an active FBS conference to win five consecutive outright conference championships since Alabama accomplished the feat from 1971-75. The College Football Playoff will be announced on Sunday, and we’re all hoping that with a win on Saturday, we’ll advance to the playoffs. You can find all the details you need for the ACC Championship here.  What an amazing time for Clemson Athletics! Go Tigers!

Clemson University will award its highest honor, the Clemson Medallion, to two distinguished alumni — Professor Emeritus Beverly “Ben” Skardon and Trustee Emeritus Allen Price Wood – during a presentation ceremony in February 2020. The Clemson Medallion is presented to individuals who have rendered notable and significant service and support to Clemson University and who exemplify the dedication and foresight of university founder Thomas Green Clemson. These two special men are more than deserving of this high award. They both have had a tremendous impact on our University and students. The Clemson Medallion is the perfect way for Clemson to honor their service and support. Please read more about their dedication to Clemson and their many accomplishments and recognitions here.

B- Celebratory!
You can see your support for Clemson come to fruition on the field during our teams’ victories with a touchdown, penalty shot, home-run or three-point shot. However, our academic accomplishments are often silent victories. But as the semester comes to an end and we prepare for commencement of our newest graduates, we have the opportunity to more expressly celebrate our students’ academic accomplishments. When our graduates walk across the stage in a few weeks, your support for the academic success of Clemson will be unmistakable. Our students are succeeding because of the dedication, support and commitment from each of you. Thank you for investing in future generations of Clemson students!

Go Tigers!
