Beaufort Jr. Leadership

About

4-H Leaders presenting at a meeting

Beaufort Junior Leadership is a 4-H Program dedicated to developing high school aged participants into young leaders. This program provides training in the area of personal and leadership development, networking, communication, financial management, and civic engagement. The program is a partnership between Clemson Extension/Beaufort County 4-H and the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Program meetings are comprised of two components. First, youth will complete hands-on projects that are dedicated to development of essential life skills. Second, youth will learn by example, by connecting with community members that are paving the way in their disciplines.

Youth are required to complete a service project to be eligible for graduation from the program. Students who will be classified as high school sophomores and juniors during the program year are eligible to apply. The program is open to public, private and homeschooled students who live and/or attend school in Beaufort County. Students must be in good academic standing with their school and must have support of their parent/guardian.

The program requires dedication and a $150 program fee that must be paid in full before orientation. If assistance is required, please contact Beaufort County 4-H agent Meghan Barkley at mebarkl@clemson.edu

4-H is the youth development program of the Cooperative Extension Service, a nationwide partnership of federal, state, and county governments, and the private sector.  4-H Youth Development programs are offered on an age-appropriate basis to all youth, ages 5-19, regardless of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, marital or family status.

Intended outcomes

  • Youth develop valuable leadership and essential life skills.
