CFR team volunteers at Move-In Day

The CFR team and family members helped new Clemson students move into their dorms on campus on Friday, August 12. Despite the heat, the team enjoyed working together to welcome these new students to the Clemson Family!

Avtec equipment helps Clemson prepare for emergency situations
Avtec, provider of pure Internet Protocol (IP) dispatch console solutions for the utility, public safety, transportation, business, and government markets, has donated state-of-the-art radio interface equipment valued at $428,383 to the Clemson University Unified Command Post. Avtec’s support will help orient Clemson students on emergency response center systems that are used in the real world operations to enhance classes and set the stage for training first responders as a public service activity.


Robert Wood Johnson Foundation awards $50,000 to Clemson researcher
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has awarded Dr. Mariela Fernandez, assistant professor in the College of Behavioral, Social and Health Sciences, a $50,000 grant for her project entitled “Examining the health status of rural Latino families and the community, family, and individual factors that impact their health outcomes.” This award was made through the Foundation’s “New Connections” program, which seeks to expand the diversity of perspectives that inform the Foundation’s programming and support a network of early career researchers from backgrounds that are underrepresented in research disciplines or historically disadvantaged. Dr. Fernandez’s project will examine the health status of rural Latino families and factors that promote and constrain positive health outcomes.


Dell becomes Sustaining Innovation Partner at Watt Center
Dell has awarded a 5-year technology grant to the Watt Family Innovation Center, becoming the Center’s newest Sustaining Innovation Partner. This partnership will provide Clemson students, faculty, and staff with computing equipment and software to be used for academic and research collaboration in the Center.


Companies engaged with CFR
NVIDIA, Bosch, Bridgestone, ASSA ABLOY, Mercedes Vans, Dell, Reliable Automatic Sprinkler, Boise Cascade, Tremco, Home Depot, CarMax, and Duke Energy visited with CFR Development Officers and other Development and campus partners in the past two months to broaden strategic partnerships and find new avenues of engagement with Clemson.
