City Planning students visit Nichols, SC

July 2, 2019

Working closely with Town of Nichols City Manager, Sandee Rogers, City and Regional Planning (CRP) students are researching community planning after Hurricane Matthew (2016) and Hurricane Florence (2018). CRP students Elizabeth Burns and Sean Scoopmire are applying drone reconnaissance research and photographic field research to analyze Nichols abandoned main street and deteriorating canal system. This is part of Dr. Gaber’s Next Step community planning class for 2nd year CRP students where they go out to South Carolina communities that lack planning resources and develop next step strategic planning initiatives. Last year the CRP students worked in Lamar, SC.
