EEES Graduate Student Attends United Nations Youth Assembly

PujariAmruta Pujari, M.S. student in Environmental Engineering and Science, attended the Youth Assembly at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City from August 8-12, 2017, as a UN delegate. Delegates were selected based on their contributions to sustainable development goals, and delegates were present from 110 countries. Being involved with organizations like Greenpeace, Climate Reality Project, Rotaract, UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, and UN volunteering contributed towards her acceptance as a delegate at the UN. At the event, Amruta participated in workshops and panel discussions on topics such as global progress in sustainable development goals and the impact of technology on the modern world. Amruta described the experience by saying, “Discussing issues related to environment, terrorism, poverty, education, gender equality and racism has made me realize how much more effort needs to be put in order to change the world for better.”
