Dr. Tanju Karanfil, Vice President for Research at Clemson University and Professor in EEES, was selected to receive the 2021 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Scientific Research. Given the breadth of scientific talent throughout the state, this is a major achievement. It is made all the more impressive by virtue of the fact that Dr. Karanfil has remained so productive in research while also holding one of the top administrative positions at Clemson University. He has spearheaded the University’s rise to the ranks of a Carnegie R1 institution, putting Clemson on the map for its research achievements.
