\nWhy did you choose Finance as a major? <\/strong><\/p>\n

I chose finance because I have a passion for investing. I love being able to use skills I\u2019ve learned in the classroom as well as my own intuition to value companies and different investment strategies. Every day in finance is different than the one before.<\/p>\n

What career field\/job would you like to pursue after graduating? <\/strong><\/p>\n

I would like to work as an Equity Research Analyst and eventually become a Senior Investment Analyst.<\/p>\n

What has been your favorite\/most memorable moment at Clemson? <\/strong><\/p>\n

My most memorable moment at Clemson was being on the field with the Men\u2019s Varsity Rugby Team as we won our first match playing in the D1A, the highest division in collegiate rugby. The program has come a long way since I first arrived in Clemson and to be a part of one of the biggest steps in the program\u2019s 50+ year history was very special.<\/p>\n

Any recent accomplishments? <\/strong><\/p>\n

I recently pitched an idea of starting my hometown\u2019s first rugby club to several successful business owners in the area. They loved the idea of having me start Bay Ridge, Brooklyn\u2019s first team and awarded me several thousands of dollars in sponsorships to fund the club for years to come.<\/p>\n

Do you have a great internship experience you\u2019d like to share?<\/strong><\/p>\n

After previously interning at a hedge fund in New York, this past summer I had the opportunity to intern at Guggenheim Investments as a Summer Analyst. Both were great opportunities to learn from some of the best on Wall Street and put what I have learned at Clemson into practice.<\/p>\n

What do you think prepared you the most? <\/strong><\/p>\n

I think that the rigor of Clemson\u2019s academics prepared me most. Aside from specific things I have learned in my finance classes, I think the ability to manage my time, stay organized, and prioritize assignments is what has helped me succeed most in my internships.<\/p>\n

Any words of advice to other students? <\/strong><\/p>\n

College goes by in the blink of an eye so really try to enjoy it as much as possible because there is no other time like it. Say yes to as many opportunities as possible while keeping priorities in line.<\/p>\n

\nWhy did you choose Finance as a major? <\/strong><\/p>\n

I have always had an entrepreneurial mindset and have enjoyed raising money for various organizations in my community. Majoring in something related to business was a given. I specifically chose Finance (and Accounting) after attending the Martha Guy Summer Business Institute at Appalachian State University the summer after my junior year of high school. For three weeks we took a deep dive into the different majors within business and learned what it meant to pursue a career in those fields upon graduation. I was fascinated with everything that you could do with Finance.<\/p>\n

What career field\/job would you like to pursue after graduating? <\/strong><\/p>\n

I have already accepted a full time job offer with SunTrust Robinson Humphrey in Atlanta, GA upon graduation as an analyst within portfolio management. I interned with the firm this past summer and learned so much about investment banking.<\/p>\n

What has been your favorite\/most memorable moment at Clemson? <\/strong><\/p>\n

The ring ceremony without a doubt. I will never forget the feeling I had opening the box and putting the ring on for the first time. It is a lifelong reminder of your ties to the Clemson family!<\/p>\n

Any recent accomplishments? <\/strong><\/p>\n

I have spent a lot of time abroad so far this year. I just returned from my third international trip right before the semester began. In 2018 I\u2019ve visited 13 countries\u2014Finland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, South Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, Peru, and Argentina. It\u2019s been a whirlwind experience but I think it is best to travel while you are in college and have the time.<\/p>\n

Do you have a great internship experience you\u2019d like to share?<\/strong><\/p>\n

In addition to interning with SunTrust Robinson Humphrey last summer, I have also interned with American Airlines in Hub Planning and Administration at the Charlotte airport. It was fascinating to see how an airline operates\u2014from catering to baggage to maintenance, I got to see it all in the 12 week program. It also came with some pretty neat travel perks, so I flew to Europe and South America almost every weekend!<\/p>\n

What do you think prepared you the most? <\/strong><\/p>\n

There have been many experiences that have prepared me for where I am today. I think Clemson does a fantastic job of equipping students with the opportunities and resources necessary to be successful. First and foremost, my professors have done a great job with integrating real world projects and examples into my classes. Those ideas and lessons are what help us as Clemson students to stand out from our peers. Additionally, my involvement in student organizations across campus has helped me tremendously. By serving as Chair of the College of Business Student Advisory Board, President of Delta Sigma Pi, and working as a tour guide for the university, I have gained invaluable skills that will benefit me for the rest of my life.<\/p>\n

Any words of advice to other students? <\/strong><\/p>\n

Network, network, network! I have met so many people not just from traveling internationally, but from taking the time to make connections within the Clemson community. Tiger Ties is a must! Get a mentor and create meaningful interactions, and reach out to other alumni who are not your \u201cofficial\u201d mentor. Additionally, nothing is a substitute for hard work. If you see other students with cool internships or full time jobs, they did not get there by happenstance. \nWhy did you choose Finance as a major?
\n<\/strong>Finance appealed to me as an incoming freshman because of my interest in financial markets and the finance side of business. Working as a retail associate in the summer prior to my first year at Clemson, I became acquainted with Quickbooks and the capital resources required to scale the business. From there I knew I wanted to learn more about the topic.<\/p>\n

What career field\/job would you like to pursue after graduating?
\n<\/strong>Currently, I am interested in pursuing one of two different career paths. The first is management consulting and the second investment banking.<\/p>\n

What has been your favorite\/most memorable moment at Clemson?
\n<\/strong>My most memorable moment at Clemson so far is travelling down to Tampa Bay, FL to watch the Tigers beat Alabama 35-31 in the 2017 National Championship Game.<\/p>\n

Any recent accomplishments?
\n<\/strong>Most recently I was honored to be inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, earn the Bank of America Scholarship, and continue my involvement in the Thomas F. Chapman Leadership Scholars Program.<\/p>\n

Do you have a great internship experience you\u2019d like to share?
\n<\/strong>During the 2018 summer I worked in Buckhead, GA for Accel-KKR, a private equity firm investing in primarily software and technology-enabled services firms. I collaborated with the AKKR Consulting Group on projects focused on the firm\u2019s portfolio companies.<\/p>\n

What do you think prepared you the most?
\n<\/strong>My financial modeling course with Professor Wolf and my prior internship experience was great preparation for working with Accel-KKR. The firm is very fast paced and relies on their interns to be self-starters who do not rely on structured training. Fortunately, my academic and intern experiences equipped me with the abilities to quickly get up to speed and bring value to the firm.<\/p>\n

Any words of advice to other students?
\n<\/strong>Relationships. I continue to learn that forming relationships with professors, faculty\/staff, peers, and others in the workplace is key to achieving your personal goals. I am interested in Investment Banking post-grad.\u00a0 I believe this is a great place to set a solid foundation and understand a business holistically.<\/p>\n

I will never forget winning the College Football National Championship my Sophomore year.\u00a0 This was a very special feeling.<\/p>\n

Do you have a great internship experience you\u2019d like to share?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I recently finished my internship with Colony Capital, Inc. in Los Angeles, CA.\u00a0 I got to work on the acquisitions side of a large real estate investment firm that has about $43 billion in assets under management.\u00a0 I spent a lot of time underwriting potential investment opportunities and building out financial models.\u00a0 As a final project, I got to present a value-add investment opportunity to the investment committee that me and three other interns underwrote and analyzed.\u00a0 The 8 weeks I spent interning on the buy-side was an amazing opportunity.\u00a0 I got to connect with multiple successful business men and women and attend several networking\/training events. \u00a0I am fortunate to have had this experience.<\/p>\n

What do you think prepared you the most? <\/strong><\/p>\n

I think the curriculum at Clemson along with my internship experiences has prepared me tremendously to enter the real world.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b>The financial industry has always interested me in the way that individuals, families, and businesses all require sound financial management in order to be successful. Finding ways to allow your money to work for you is critical during your lifetime. I decided to study finance, specifically the planning\/advising aspect, more in-depth in college because so many people seem to struggle with proper management of their personal money. I wanted to prepare myself to the best of my ability to assist others in the creation of a plan so they can meet their unique financial goals.<\/p>\n

What career field\/job would you like to pursue after graduating? <\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b>I plan to join a wealth management team with Wells Fargo Advisors in Raleigh, NC. This team specifically creates portfolios and plans depending on the client according to their goals and risk tolerance. I am super excited to be able to learn from seasoned professionals so that I can help others in the future while being able to work for a top firm in the US.<\/p>\n

What has been your favorite\/most memorable moment at Clemson? <\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b>I have been so grateful to be able to serve Clemson students as their 2018-2019 Student Body Treasurer. I enjoy interacting with students that are passionate about their organizations and interests. I firmly believe the Clemson Experience comes to life through the experiences and the relationships that are built outside the classroom (working hard inside the classroom is also important!!).<\/p>\n

Any recent accomplishments? <\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b>During my internship with the FDIC this summer, I was fortunate enough to earn the STAR Award. The STAR Award is given to employees that played a critical role in a bank examination. I was one of about 50 interns to receive the award through my experiences over the summer.<\/p>\n

Do you have a great internship experience you\u2019d like to share?<\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b>Also during my time with the FDIC, I was able to have lunch with Martin Gruenberg, the 20th \u00a0Chairman of the FDIC. I was able to ask him about his experiences as an influential part of the stabilization of the US financial system and where he sees the future taking us. It was such a great experience and one I\u2019ll never forget.<\/p>\n

What do you think prepared you the most? <\/b><\/p>\n

As much as I\u2019ve learned inside the classroom, I credit my experiences outside the classroom as the key to my collegiate career and my main source of preparation. The relationships I\u2019ve made with friends and professors have enhanced my love for Clemson and for a future in the real world.<\/p>\n

Any words of advice to other students? <\/b><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/b>Don\u2019t be afraid to put yourself out there and take a chance! College is a rewarding time, but is also challenging in many respects. Get involved early on.
