The Department of Industrial Engineering congratulates associate professor Dr. Sandra Eksioglu on her acceptance into the Provost’s Mentoring Initiative for Faculty.
The Provost’s Mentoring Initiative for Faculty, or Trailblazers, is a competitive program composed of one faculty nominated from each of Clemson’s 40 departments, aimed at preparing tenured faculty for leadership roles. Trailblazers are selected by the TIGERS ADVANCE Executive Leadership Committee based on their trajectory into academic leadership roles and potential to contribute to and support further institutional diversity.
Although the Trailblazers initiative is open to men and women, the program addresses the current deficient of women academic leaders at Clemson University by ensuring that at least 50 percent of the Trailblazers accepted are women.
The program provides experiential leadership training focused on the unique challenges of leadership in higher education and STEM disciplines in particular. The program prepares and equips Trailblazers with the tools to establish mentoring programs in their departments and or/colleges, lead initiatives with organizations (professional associations/government), and serve as an advocate of gender equity in higher education.
Dr. Sandra Eksioglu will serve in the Trailblazers initiative September 2018 through May 2018.
