Roxie Mae Knotts, retiree – September 15, 2021

Roxie Mae Knotts died on September 15, 2021.

She retired from Clemson University in 2004 after 27 years. She was a custodian in University Facilities.

She was educated at Clearview High School in Easley before coming to work at Clemson in 1977.

She is survived by a son, Eric (Christy) Knotts Jr. of Clemson; two daughters, Wanda (William) Smith of Clemson and Neva (Mack) Smith of Pendleton.

A service was held September 22 and she was interred at Memory Gardens in Clemson.

Daniel Byers Jr., Facilities employee – September 18, 2021

University Facilities employee Daniel Byers Jr., 57, of Easley, died Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Spartanburg Medical Center.

Byers was senior project manager-electrical in Facilities and worked at the University for eight years.

“Dan went out of his way to exhibit kindness and compassion to all,” said Todd Barnette, associate vice president and chief facilities officer. “He was extremely proud of his work and the projects he accomplished. Dan was truly committed to his co-workers and customers, and freely showed his passion in assuring the enhanced safety for all of us through the work he achieved.”

Arrangements will be announced online by Blyth Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Richard Andrew ‘Andy’ Riggins II, Facilities employee – September 2, 2021

Clemson University Facilities employee, Andy Riggins, 57, of Six Mile died September 2, 2021.

Riggins had more than 20 years of service at Clemson, most recently working a variety of projects in Facilities that placed him in contact with a significant number of employees campus wide. Riggins spent his first years at Clemson in Student Affairs serving in a variety of roles within the University Union and Student Center where his supervision of students led to long lasting relationships with former undergraduate students. Riggins’ service in Student Affairs was so notable that for more than a decade an outstanding student employee has been recognized with the  ‘Andy Riggins Whatever It Takes Award.’

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 6, 2021, in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. The family will receive friends Sunday, Sept. 5, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be private.
