iROAR Project impacts faculty, staff and students

Clemson University has made major progress toward implementing iROAR, the new Student Information System. iROAR project’s goals are to:

  • provide a single sign-on for all users,
  • provide improved data integrity, and
  • provide an enhanced management of data and an intuitive portal for all aspects of the Clemson community.

How iROAR impacts faculty and staff
This project will change and improve many of the procedures faculty currently use and will offer:

  • an alternative pin process that will allow faculty advisers to release pins after meeting with students,
  • accessibility of additional data for course requirement planning, answering questions and identifying historical trends,
  • changes in grade entry and class roll procedures,
  • access to Degree Works, which will provide enhanced degree audit capabilities, comprehensive reporting, graduation planning, online access to course information, and other dynamic note features.

As new processes are implemented, faculty and staff will find training manuals and videos posted on the iROAR website to instruct them in correct procedures.

How iROAR impacts students
The iROAR Project will be implementing new procedures for current students, such as

  • a new portal for student access with automatic notifications upon sign-in,
  • improved registration procedures
  • graduation requirement tracking
  • electronic check handling
  • financial aid scholarship packaging and much more.  As the new procedures “go live,” students will find directions and videos posted on the iROAR website to train them.

Beth Lacy, has been directing the iROAR Project since July 2011. Team members were chosen from all university areas, including: Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid and Student Financial Services. Additionally, a massive technical team is working with Ellucian, the company that provides the Banner software package, to ensure that appropriate training and a successful implementation of the entire system occurs. Once implementation is complete, iROAR will strengthen collaboration between faculty, staff, students and the systems they utilize.  iROAR will change the face of how people operate in these systems.
