Clemson Online offers faculty development for those who would like to learn more about teaching online or incorporating technology into their face-to-face classes. View and register for sessions here.

This week’s session is entitled A Matter of Perspective: A Student’s View in Blackboard. This session will cover the Student View tool as well as struggles that students encounter which are frequently invisible to instructors. We’ll cover a student’s view of grades and feedback as well as issues accessing items, attachments, and attempts. University officials are monitoring weather conditions and will make decisions as conditions warrant.

Clemson University employees and students in Greenville and other off-campus worksites should check if your work/class location is closed or on delay through these steps:

• Visit the county government offices website, which lists county-by-county closings.
• Review the county government office’s schedule for your Clemson workplace.
• Follow the schedule of that county’s government office.

Residential students should visit Dining Services for updated hours of operation.

Check the Clemson Area Transit (CAT) Facebook page for schedule and route updates.

Updates will be issued via CU Safe Alerts, Inside Clemson and the CU Safety page as information becomes available and decisions are made.

Buses on Clemson Area Transit’s (CAT) Red Route will be detoured on Aug. 19 for Clemson’s Welcome Back Festival. Contact CAT at 654-2287 with any questions.

The power outage, which impacted several buildings on campus yesterday, has been fully restored. All systems are functioning normally.

This morning, a partial power outage occurred on campus affecting a number of buildings.

Although Facilities has restored power to a number of buildings, the following buildings remain without power

• Long Hall
• Campbell Museum (Kinard Annex only)
• Sikes Hall
• Alumni Center
• Highway 93 traffic signals near Sikes

Crews continue to assess the damage and make repairs as needed.

The eighth annual Focus on Creative Inquiry is a glimpse into the future. Featuring the research of our undergraduate students, the poster forum displays a few of the more than 400 projects initiated by Clemson University Creative Inquiry teams. We have more than 3,000 students participating in Creative Inquiry, on more than 400 teams. These 250+ projects have resulted in 188 presentations at professional meetings, 95 publications in professional journals and three patent applications.

In the course of their investigations, our students have traveled to Africa and Haiti. They were integral to the establishment of the Social Media Listening Center, the first of its kind on a college campus in the US. Through their participation in Creative Inquiry, Clemson students have learned to be thinkers, leaders and entrepreneurs.

This year’s forum features a series of interactive exhibits:

• Cooking with a chef: 1 – 3 p.m.
• Sustainable foods: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
• Bioengineering demonstrations: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
• Social media listening lab: 10 a.m. – Noon
• Explant retrieval: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
• Box turtle road safety: 10: a.m. – Noon
• Sonicator demonstration: 1 – 3 p..m

The Hendrix Center is the setting for this one-of-a-kind experience. Posters are on display from 10 a.m. – Noon and 1-3 p.m. on the second floor. The plenary session and awards presentation are at 3:15 p.m. in McKissick Theater.

PARKING/TRANSIT – Parking Closures, Towing Events, and CAT Route Deviations

There are a number of events occurring across campus in the upcoming week. Please note that some of these events may impact your parking routine.

Road Construction on Cherry Rd beginning Tuesday, March 5

For the next few weeks deteriorated concrete will be repaired and curb cuts will be brought into American Disabilities Act (ADA)- compliance along Cherry Road. This work will begin at the Sheep Barn and end near Parkway Drive. During this time, parking spaces and pedestrian access will be periodically closed and reopened in two- to three-day phases as not to disrupt the entire road as work progresses.

Parking at Brooks Center: Towing beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 7

Thursday, March 7, the white spaces in C-11 will be reserved starting at 6 p.m. for Patron’s Row parking for the performance of Creole Choir of Cuba. Friday, March 8, the white spaces in C-11 will be reserved in the morning for Freedom Train, a Eskridge Tri-Art Series presentation. Aisles 1-3 of C-1 parking lot reserved Friday, March 8 beginning 6 p.m.

The first three aisles of the C-1 parking lot are reserved for the first Residence Hall Associated Drive-In movie from 6 – 11:00 p.m. Friday, March 9. Commuter permit holders are asked to vacate these aisles and refrain from parking in the area by 6 p.m. Friday, March 8. All residents must return to a resident parking space upon completion of the movie.

The first three aisles of the C-1 parking lot are reserved for the Clemson Sports Car Club Autocross from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 9. Permit holders are asked to vacate these aisles and refrain from parking in the area by 7 p.m. Friday, March 8.

Parking at Brooks Center: Towing beginning at 6pm on Monday, March 11

Monday, March 11, the white spaces in C-11 will be reserved starting at 6 p.m. for Patron’s Row parking for the Imani Winds performance.
