By Maggie Masterson, Class of 2017

As part of Research and Innovation Month, the Office of Sponsored Programs is hosting a workshop on team science for both faculty and staff, featuring Dr. Sam Gannon of Vanderbilt University.

The workshop will focus on building skills to form and maintain successful research teams.

The event is scheduled for Friday, April 7th in the Self Auditorium of the Strom Thurmond Institute. The morning session will focus on how staff can support team science and the afternoon session will discuss how faculty can engage in successful team collaborations.

The workshop will feature Dr. Sam Gannon, Director of the Vanderbilt University Program in Research Administration Development, a nationally recognized program that aims to provide instruction on best practices in research compliance specifically for administrative, clinical, and other research staff managing sponsored programs. Dr. Gannon serves on the National Academy of Science committee and is a member of the editorial board of Research Management Review.

“Clemson University has made many accomplishments in research in the past few years. These accomplishments have paved the way for our distinction as a Carnegie R1: Doctoral University. The research on display during Research and Innovation Month reflects the work necessary to achieve this significant and prestigious honor, and it reflects our very talented undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff who contributed to the work,” said Tanju Karanfil, vice president for research at Clemson.
