Clemson continues search for dean of students

By Jackie Todd, office of Media Relations

Early last month, Clemson launched a national search for a dean of students and associate vice president for Student Affairs to replace Shannon Finning who joined Springfield College.

The executive-level position assists in setting the strategic vision, goals and priorities for the Student Affairs division and remains current on issues and trends that impact higher education as it relates to students. Additionally, the dean serves as the academic liaison to a number of university divisions, manages student conduct, career, professional development and transition programs and oversees fraternity and sorority life. This position chairs the university’s crisis management team.

“We are looking for a hands-on, seasoned professional who can take this position to the next level ,” said Chuck Knepfle, Clemson’s associate vice president for enrollment management and chair of the committee that is conducting the national search. “As Clemson fine tunes its strategic and academic goals through 2020Forward, this position will be key in supporting that effort.”

For full consideration, candidates have until Sept. 4 to submit their resume, references and other supporting materials.

Final candidates will be brought to the main campus for open forums. Those events will be announced through Inside Clemson.
