March 21 main campus steam outage may have impacts on some building systems

By Jackie Todd, Office of University Relations

Clemson’s main campus will undergo a steam outage on Tuesday, March 21, beginning at about 8 a.m. and lasting six to eight hours.

The outage is necessary to repair a cracked weld on a main steam header in the Central Energy Facility.

Utilities operations and maintenance leader Brian Kauer advised that all buildings and systems that use central campus steam will see some impacts.

“The outage may affect building heating systems, hot water, autoclaves/sterilizers, dishwashers and any equipment, process or research activities that use central campus steam,” he said.
