Robert Gregory “Bob” Waldrop, athletics photographer – April 26, 2020

Robert Gregory “Bob” Waldrop, 79, who worked for 21 years as a photographer in the Clemson Athletics department, died Sunday, April 26.

A 1959 graduate of Greenville High School, Waldrop attended Clemson University and served two years in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he was employed with JE Sirrine Architects and Engineers Company before joining the Athletics department. He later joined what became the Caine Halter YMCA in Greenville as a tennis instructor.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Sharon “Dottie” Waldrop; daughter Suzanne Sanders (John); sons, Raymond Waldrop (Amy) and Michael Waldrop (Eugenia); seven grandchildren, Jack, Hailey and Mac Sanders and Chip, John, Dowlen and Hunter Waldrop; and brother, Harrell Waldrop (Dale) and his family.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at a later date.
