With Blackboard access ending on May 17, 2017, Clemson Online is offering multiple initiatives to help the campus community make the most of Canvas, Clemson’s new learning management system.
Clemson Online’s “Get to Know Canvas” blog series launched Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Each entry provides a brief video introduction to a frequently used Canvas feature.
The first entry offers an overview of Canvas’s Dashboard feature, and the second entry walks you through Canvas’s home page options and discusses the pros and cons of each. Upcoming topics include using Turnitin, finding and using content with Canvas Commons, building Modules, embedding media content into Pages, recording audio and video in the Rich Text Editor, and using SpeedGrader to evaluate student work.
If you would like to suggest an additional topic for our “Get to Know Canvas” blog series, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Clemson Online recently began offering one Open Lab session per week in Room 333 of the Watt Family Innovation Center. Held on alternating Tuesdays and Fridays, these Open Labs provide a space for members of the Clemson community to come work independently on their Canvas courses. There is no formal agenda for these sessions, but a Canvas expert will be on hand for any questions or assistance.
Visit www.clemson.edu/online/events for a schedule of our Open Lab events.
Clemson Online’s Canvas experts will also be offering four Tech Talks this semester:
CCIT hosts Tech Talks via Adobe Connect on Tuesdays from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Each talk consists of a 35- to 40-minute presentation followed by a Q&A session.
For more information on Tech Talks, visit http://ccit.clemson.edu/training/tech-talk/.
In addition to our Open Labs, Clemson Online will continue to offer training sessions on Canvas this semester. Training includes structured sessions, self-paced online courses, and “Canvas and Cookies” sessions. To sign up for a training session, visit www.clemson.edu/online/events.
We also offer customized training for programs and departments. To request training, please email email@example.com.
