On October 15, Clemson Online hosted Canvas Accessibility Day, during which various learning strategists and course designers hosted presentations related to digital accessibility. The purpose of these sessions was to provide instructors with helpful information on how to get started with implementing and complying with accessible course design standards.

WCAG Standard: What does it mean for your course? 

This presentation introduces the new WCAG standard for online accessibility and what compliance means for Clemson instructors. Within this training, Sharyn Emery, Ph.D., covers background information on WCAG, demonstrates how to meet compliance, and discusses some valuable accessibility resources at Clemson University.

This presentation covers how to provide alt-text and image descriptions to make images accessible for all learners. Within this training, ‘Dara Abimbade, Ph.D., discusses the importance of alt-text image descriptions and demonstrates how to add alt-text to both simple and complex images in Canvas.
