InfoEd Tip: Where Can I Find My Approval Letters?

June 28, 2022

When IBC, IRB or IACUC approval is granted, the InfoEd system will automatically provide the appropriate approval letter to the PI.  To find the Initial Application approval letter (Amendment (etc) approval letters will be similar) do one of the following:

  • via Email –  Search the PI’s email for the approval letter. The attached PDF file will be the approval letter. Depending on the compliance program, the email title and attachment will follow the following format that can searched for:
    • IBC – The Initial Application approval email will be titled “Initial Application Approved”. The attachment will be called “Initial Application Approved.pdf”. The Email will appear to be from the IBC Administrator “Hope Smith-Sielick”.
    • IRB – The Initial Application approval email will be titled “Protocol IRBXXXX-NNNN has been approved”. The attachment will be called, depending on the application type, “<<Application Type>> Determination.pdf” for example: “Expedited Determination.pdf” or “Exempt Determination.pdf”. The Email will appear to be from “IRB Office, -“.
    • IACUC – The Initial Application approval email will be titled “<<AUP Number>> Has Been Approved”. The attachment will be called “Approval Memo.pdf”. The Email will appear to be from “IACUC Office”.
  • via Login – Log directly into InfoEd (https://infoed.clemson.edu) then click the orange Messages tab at the top. Next, search messages for the attached approval letter. This message will be very similar to email that was sent out to the PI. It will include the approval letter as a PDF attachment.
  • Contact ORC – If you still cannot find  your approval letter you may contact the Office of Research Compliance for a copy.
