A note about sportsmanship

August 31, 2017

Dear Clemson Family,

This time of year is always exciting at Clemson — new students moving to campus, classes starting, lots of fun events to celebrate the start of the semester, and of course, new seasons for all of our fall sports. My family and I are looking forward to cheering on the Tigers this year alongside tens of thousands of Clemson students, faculty, staff, alumni, and fans!

This year is even more special, because for the first time in 35 years, we are starting out the season as the defending National Champions in football! All eyes are on us this year — on the playing field, in the stands, in the community and on social media — so let’s continue to showcase our world-class sportsmanship and hospitality.

Clemson takes great pride in welcoming visitors to campus and demonstrating good sportsmanship to the visiting team, coaches and officials. Let’s be passionate about our Tigers, courteous to our visitors, and respectful of all fans who gather to enjoy each game.

I also encourage you all to “Celebrate Safely,” by looking out for your fellow fans and intervening when you see someone who needs help. To learn more about resources related to alcohol safety and bystander intervention, visit the Healthy Campus website.

I know that I can count on the Clemson Family to set the example and represent this great university with pride. Thank you for your support!

Go Tigers!!!
