This&nbsp;<strong>preventive maintenance<\/strong>&nbsp;is intended to improve power stability and reduce the risk of unscheduled outages in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a result,&nbsp;<strong>Palmetto 2, Indigo, and all other RCD services will be unavailable<\/strong>&nbsp;until the work is completed on&nbsp;<strong>Tuesday, December 23<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any batch jobs that cannot finish before the maintenance window will be&nbsp;<strong>held in the queue<\/strong>, but all <strong>interactive jobs will be canceled<\/strong>.&nbsp;<strong>Data transfers will also be interrupted<\/strong>&nbsp;during this time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, during this maintenance window, the\u00a0<strong>K20 and K40 GPUs will be retired<\/strong>\u00a0after\u00a013 and 11 years of service, respectively. Administrators worked quickly to revert the changes and systems and services started to restore by 11:45.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The RCD team apologizes for this unanticipated service interruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Administrators are evaluating the changes to determine why this connectivity issue occurred, and will be scheduling a time in the future to retry the necessary changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interactive jobs were terminated during this outage. Some batch jobs would have also failed during this time. While maintenance work is in progress, all RCD services will be unavailable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the maintenance window, we plan to complete the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Minor OS Upgrades<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Networking Maintenance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>System Testing and Benchmarking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There are <strong>no plans to purge scratch space<\/strong> during this maintenance, but users should be mindful that scratch space is never backed up and critical files should always be stored on home or project storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Users should expect that services will be restored no earlier than <strong>Friday, June 6th, 2025, at 5:00 PM<\/strong> and should <strong>monitor their email for updates<\/strong> from RCD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please feel free to reach out to RCD with any questions or concerns that you have about the maintenance work by <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.rcd.clemson.edu\/support\/ticket\/general\/?subject=Spring+2025+Maintenance+Inquiry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">submitting a support ticket<\/a> \u2013 we would love to hear from you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The RCD team has scheduled a maintenance window to perform work on the Palmetto Cluster, Indigo Data Lake, and other systems at the end of the Spring semester.
