Initial Private Pesticide Applicator Training & Licensing Exam

March 16, 2023

Hillary Pope, Area Livestock and Forages Agent

Clemson Extension Agents Joe Varn and Hillary Pope hosted an initial private pesticide applicator training and licensing earlier this year. There were 13 participants in the training, and an exam was given immediately after the class. Participants learned about pest control principles, pesticide labeling, pesticides and the environment, pesticide handling decisions, and various other topics critical to obtaining a private pesticide license. Participants must take this training, pass the exam, and apply for a license with the Department of Pesticide Regulation. Private applicator licenses are intended for agricultural producers who must purchase, use, or supervise the use of restricted-use pesticides in their operations. This certification is not for homeowners, commercial applicators, or pest control operators. The fee to attend a private pesticide training is $90. If you want to obtain your private pesticide license, please contact the Allendale County Extension Office (803) 584-4207 to learn about the next training.

The Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service offers its programs to people of all ages, regardless of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, marital or family status, and is an equal opportunity employer.
