Apply to be a Grand Challenge Scholar – Application Now Open

August 14, 2020

Clemson University’s Grand Challenge Scholars program is now accepting applicants for its Fall 2020 Cohort. The Grand Challenge Scholars program embodies the solution-centric vision of the National Academy of Engineering, helping students to engage in the real-real world application of their classroom education through experiences such as research, international travel, seminar talks, and community outreach.

The program’s goal is to prepare tomorrow’s engineering leaders to solve the grand challenges facing society during the next century. Through the completion of the five components of the program, students will have the opportunity to engage in research relating to their selected grand challenge, explore interdisciplinary coursework, gain an international perspective, engage in entrepreneurship, and give back to the community through service-learning.

The most sought after benefits include:

-Travel Awards to pursue international learning experiences (study abroad, internships, research, public service projects, etc)

-Conference Grants to attend domestic and international conferences, whether professional or academic-related to their interests

-Membership to one of the most elite engineering programs in the world with members from India, China, Europe, etc.

Priority applications are due Friday, August 28, 2020, at 11:59 PM EST.

General applications are due Saturday, September 11, 2020, at 11:59 PM EST.
