Hannah Young

Name: Hannah Young

Hometown: Sumter, South Carolina

Major: Nursing

Favorite place for lunch on campus or in town: Loose Change, Cocobowlz, or All In Coffee… I can’t choose!

Favorite spot on campus: North Green- definitely the most beautiful spot on campus with the prettiest view of the reflection pond and library! Every time I’m there, it reminds me of everything I love about Clemson.

Favorite question on a tour: Why did you choose the nursing program at Clemson? I love this question because I get to brag about our Nursing program and talk about all the incredible connections and experiential learning you are able to gain through Clemson Nursing! Not only are we a nationally-accredited nursing program, but we also have the coolest simulation lab where we are able to practice working with patients before we leave Clemson to head out into the workforce! Answering this question just makes me get so excited about the day I get to walk around campus in my scrubs!

Clubs and Organizations you are involved in on campus: ADPi, Clemson Miracle, Student Nurses Association, Taylor Swift Club, ClemsonLIFE Volunteers, and Tour Guides

Hobbies: Shopping, getting my nails done, drinking coffee, singing karaoke, watching Disney movies, and walking the Dikes with friends

Advice for jumping into college life: Never be afraid to try! Going into college can be a scary and overwhelming process, but if I could give any advice, it would be to never say no to a new opportunity or experience. When I first got to Clemson, I was scared to get involved for the fear of not living up to those around me. However, if I never had the push to apply to be a Tour Guide, I wouldn’t be here today! My older friends gave me the advice to always try because you never know how something may turn out, and that couldn’t be more true. That advice is what gave me the Clemson experience, memories, and friendships I have today!

Advice on how to choose a college: As you go on tours and research schools, don’t just look at facts and figures. Truly envision yourself at that school and imagine how you would get involved there. This is what I did when I went on college tours and is what led me to Clemson! I loved the campus, the programs, and the facts about the school, but it was where I could see myself finding a “home away from home” that made me realize Clemson was the school for me!

Fun fact about yourself: I’ve played the violin since I was 12 years old!
