Lyle C. Wilcox, former dean, Oct. 5, 2018

Lyle C. Wilcox, 86, of Flagler Beach, FL died October 5, 2018. He was a Dean of Engineering at Clemson.

Wilcox joined Clemson as Draper Professor in the summer of 1965 and a year later became head of the electrical engineering department at 34 years old.

He was promoted again, this time to associate dean, in 1970. He became dean of what was then the College of Engineering in 1973 and remained in the job until 1980, when he left to become president of the University of Southern Colorado.

Wilcox is survived by his three children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife and brothers.
